Oh YES, I am BACK! Summer is over with, or really for us in the north woods this year was the year with out a summer. Oh, but now, we have had above normal temps. We are still in a major drought though. With the fall season fast approaching, the ferns, the forest plants, the trees turning color, losing their summer cloths. The fire danger remains high to extreme.
As for what is going on in Washington, with the MSM, Oh I have been watching, reading, anything I can get my hands on, and anything I can watch, see, hear, learn. Trying to stop my head from spinning, wondering what the heck are people thinking! Wondering if these folks will wake up out of their Obama trance, before it is too late. To late not only for those of us who have half a brain and some common sence left, but to late for generations to come, and well to late for those who support what is going on in Washington.
The job market in the north woods of Wisconsin is awful, and I suppose just like a lot of other places, small towns around the Country. My husband is in the construction business. Really, it has hurt us when the housing bubble busted. We have not built one house from the “ground up” this whole year. As winter is coming, it does not look good to get a house. People are not even doing remodeling right now. Nothing but what is needed, is being done in the housing business. People no longer have the money for those extras. Like adding on a room, a sunroom, that extra bedroom or bathroom. Landscaping, flowers, water systems, pools, and the like, people simply do not have that extra cash on hand.
Folks are scared, well, the folks that know and care what is going on. As for the others, like I have been saying, I do not understand. To tell the truth, I never thought it was going to get this bad! Dont get me wrong, I knew it would get hard, but this? People it is down right scary!!!

First, I tried to stop posting about the news. I was getting mad and tired about how the MSM was reporting to only suit there needs and wants. After a few months of not posting, I became part of the problem!
Then this story came about. We are all being told to shut our mouths, are we not? If we do not agree we are first told to shut up, if we do not, we are called names. Being called names by so called grown ups who have no idea what to do but follow the “in crowd.”
You need to not talk about your faith. For those who think of beauty pageants as anachronisms for young women in an era of liberation, doesn’t this speak volumes about the attitudes of the organizers? Just shut up and look pretty, even if people are attacking you.
Let’s remember why Prejean has to talk about this at all. The organizers of the national contest invited an outspoken gay-marriage advocate and allowed him to turn the pageant into a soapbox for his own purposes. After Prejean gave her honest answer, choosing to have the confidence in her own faith and intellect, Hilton then went on a media tear, calling Prejean a “b***h” and saying he wished he could call her an even more vulgar term demeaning towards women.
And the beauty pageant organizers want her to shut up, smile, and just take it — and apologize for having an opinion.
What a breakthrough for women!
I guess this smart, out spoken lady, who is not afraid to talk in this PC world where we are suppose to act and talk like robots. She was not afraid!
More important, she made me no longer part of the problem. I will post about the rights and the wrongs. I will stand up for the values we where founded on as a whole and I will fight for those values.

I thought it was a bad dream. I awoke this early morning and seen snow hanging on tightly to the pine tree right in front of my bedroom window. It was to early to wake up! And I was cold, very cold!
I feel back asleep, to be woken up by the whining of my dog. He needed to go out, and out now! My eyes not yet wanting to open. I thought to myself, was it a dream? Did I really see snow at the first light of the day? And why is it so darn cold in the house?
My eyes still blurry from the good nights sleep, and as they are focusing in, oh yes it snowed. And I mean it really snowed sometime in the dark of night. We from the North Woods are all to aware not to let 70 degree weather only a few days ago fool us. But, this snowfall I think took a lot of us off guard. As we have not seen a snowfall like this all winter long. And winter is really suppose to be over with.
We have about 8 inches of wet heavy snow. That is why we had no power in the early morning. The branches from the trees hanging down to their breaking point. It is still snowing and almost close to three in the afternoon. The weather folks do have us under a snow storm warning till tomorrow morning!
The kids up north here are used of this winter weather and school was not canceled. For the most part school is only canceled when we get cold weather, and not snow. The buses will protest in the cold, the kids dance and laugh.
As for me, the power came back on and we warmed up the house. Keeping the heat on a bit higher then normal. With wet snow still falling and the branches getting more snow on them, the power will be out again. Keeping the heat on and higher will let the house stay warmer a little bit longer.
Hey, did I just hear, “sleding?”

The spring weather that has graced us here in the North Woods, with sun and warmth. Is now for a few days going to be coming to a crashing end. With cold air, some rain, and snow! Now mind you, we do need the rain as we are in a sever drought and fire levels remain “very high.” What we do not want after a long cold winter is snow!

With winter now over, busy times with family, husband working more than a thousand miles away this winter. I am back to post daily! And I am so happy about that.
Winter is over up in the great North Woods of Wisconsin. A few small piles of snow from the long cold winter, that the snow plows have piled up. They are slowly melting into our dry ground, our brown thirsty ground. This whole week we have been in the 70s or inching ever so close to the 70 degree mark.
The summer birds have been flocking in, singing their morning greeting to us. The animals are waking up from their long winter nap, the female deer are getting fat, ready for their young to be born. Today I head the eerie sound of the Loon.
To say this winter was a long one, is an under statement. My husband went to Florida to work. As the buidling industry is struggling to find work. A long winter made even longer for the both of us and a lot of familys up north. I have no idea what this summer will bring for us. But I feel we have not even made it over the hump, not even can see the bump that all of us will have to pass.
With the sun shinning warm, beginning of a renew of life as the weather warms and the North Woods awakes from the long winter. I can put behind the hard times of this winter, and we had many. As life renews and begins again, we will have to also begin again, a start over, a do over.
It feels good to be back!

“STOP HAVING CHILDREN.” Steven Kotler has declared that responsible adults should stop having children in order to save the planet. Those who are having kids, are being selfish and stealing from the future, the rest of humanity, and “every living thing on the earth,” he wrote. Have too many kids and you should go to jail.
Does this guy need to see his own head doctor? I mean really? I think he cannot like himself that much, or he has problems in the bedroom.

An update to the above post.
Early Tuesday morning my sister in laws water broke. Our little Mason was not going to stay in momma no longer. At 5:20am the two boys came into the world. Trenton is holding his own now, as the twins are premature. Mommy and Daddy are doing very well, and our Mason is doing great.
As auntie to my only siblings children I can say it is so wonderful. I cannot have my own children and know God has His own plan for me and my husband. We have both always been content with that. I am busy right now making the hour drive each day to the hospital. When I get home I just about crash. And that is what I am going to do now.

I have been away from my computer, and away from my news again. This time not because I was in a news overload and disgusted with every aspect of what was and is going on.
My only sibling, my younger brother and his wife are expecting twin boys any day now. My sister-in-law is on bed rest. Any my brother is waiting surgery. Life keeps going and babies do not want to wait for their due date, nor my brothers surgery.
Mom and babies are both doing great! Mom will be having a c-section as one of the boys are breach and he thinks it is time to come into the world right now. She is only a few short weeks from her due date and the doctors want to keep those boys cooking as long as everyone is healthy.
I am blessed that my brother and sister-in-law only live a mile down the road. And my husband and I being not able to have children are on cloud nine right now! We also have most of our family in our small towns around the area.
I have been recording the news and watching it late at night. I have been taking notes in one of my many “news notebooks.” DVRs ROCK! I still need my news fixes.
This weekend my better half will be fishing and you can bet I will be back posting about all the new, news that has arose this past week. All I have to say right now, WOW. This is “going to be a bumpy ride,” to boring that quote from a dear friend of mine. That is saying it mildly right now.

The last day of January! It is a perfect day to the end of the first month of the new year.
We woke up with a beutiful frost that clung to all the ever green trees. It was truly a winter wonder land this morning and through out the day today.
We finally broke the long cold spell today. We up north did not get above freezing today, but still headlines are the same all down south. http://www.weather.gov/view/prodsByState.php?state=WI&prodtype=public

Like I have been saying, this winter season for cold temps. is one we will not soon forget. It was a slow start in terms of snowfall, and we are below normal for snowfall. But the cold temps. have kept the snow we do get from melting. We cannot have it all, nor the perfect winter weather every year, as much as we would like too.
This weekend also looks to be good for our local businesses. With a lot of snowmobiles out, and talking to a local bait store owner, the ice fishing is starting to pick up now. With our ice conditions at there best, people are having no problems getting on the lakes. Last night my hubby measured the ice, about 30-32 inches of ice.
We did not yet get our annual “winter thaw” yet this season. At least once during the winter we get warm weather, and a major thaw. I remember one year in February, most of the snow melted and we where flying kites, in tee shirts! Oh what one will do up here for entertainment in the long, cold, and dark winter months. Those are extreme thaws, and not welcomed by people who depend on snow. And on folks like my husband and I who wait all summer for snowmobiling and ice fishing.
I do know the folks down south in Wisconsin are happy with the weather today. Not only did they have record cold this year, they also had all the record snow to contend with too. That can take such a major toll in many ways on the towns and the cities.
We still have more winter to come up here in the North Woods of Wisconsin. And right now, what a perfect time to come and play in the snow!
